Gotta love them mutts!

So we had two dogs in to visit the vet again. Well 3 actually went, we couldn't leave the alpha alone in the house and take the two very inferior and very low on the social ladder dogs. for a ride in the car.

Turns out it was Maggie who's been leaving pools of poo on the floor at night. We'd thought it was Charlie 'cos she was the one waking us up. Guess Charlie was just smarter about how to wake up people. Maggie goes to the door and whimpers, as if anyone asleep in the next room is going to hear her.

Seems to be a known side effect of the heart medication she takes, and she cannot live without it, so we will have to be more vigilant.

Horrible summer

As if the weather and Con*Cept weren't stressful enough, my mom is in the hospital and the doctors suspect cancer of the stomach. Since she is 84 and lost most of her lungs years ago to TB, they are not holding out much hope. At least she is now comfortable, able to get around a bit, and read, do puzzles, etc. Driving back and forth every day is hard on me, but I'm sure she must be totally bored otherwise.
One of my best friends just lost his father, so there's a funeral in the very near future, along with Anticipation. What a crazy summer. I'm in the midst of such turmoil.

Computer's local network now works!

I had to shell out 30-some bucks for a cable, but finally my desktop computer is talking and listening to the laptop and Russell's computer also. A lot of time was wasted trying to figure out how to get them to communicate, but eventually the problem was narrowed down to the D-Link.

My desktop computer refuses to talk to the others on the local network. Driving me crazy. Everything has to be transferred by flashdrive.

Buying a new car

So we are looking at a new car. Yeeek. Such an expense, and so much choice, and I really hate shopping for cars! Fortunately, it doesn't often happen.

I've looked at a Subaru Forester, and a Hyundai something or other, and though I favour the Subaru, we'll probably get the Hyundai. The dealer is right here, almost walking distance, which would make a nice change.

I'm going to miss my Saturn station wagon. I really liked the way it handled, and it was comfortable for me, but the air conditioner broke down, again, and Russ doesn't want to throw more money at it.

Snow

OK, so I'm not the one who has to clear the driveway, obviously, or I wouldn't be reflecting on the wonders of snow. But the light fluffy stuff is delightful!! I wish there was a bit of sun to turn it all to diamonds.

I hate this weather

I hate the in-between seasons--Fall between the coloured leaves and the snow, spring between the melt and the tulips. These cold, windy, rainy days make my bones ache, and I feel depressed and tired. Even the dogs are quiet. Wish I could go back to bed, but there's too much work to be done. The floors are knee-deep in dog hair, the laundry is piled to the ceiling.
